Hertfordshire County Amateur Athletic Association Road Running Sub-Committee
Herts road running sub-committee is in action.
It may have filtered though to the clubs that a road running sub-committee of the Herts AAA has been formed. Why?
Running clubs can gain benefits from association with UK Athletics via the SEAA and the HCAAA , mainly accreditation and insurance for road races but much more is available if we can road running club involvement.
Race Permits
We administer road race permits – necessary to obtain UKA, Highways and Police permission to stage events.
Training and Coaching
Clubs future via the UKA can provide grants for athlete training and coach development.
Inter-county teams
10K and half marathon CAU championships are held each year, clubs can get involved in the nomination of athletes to represent their county.
Race Reports
If race reports are returned, a proportion of the unattached levy can be reinvested in road running.
County Championships and statistics
We are starting to keep records and provide trophies and medals for these annual road race events to bring them back to life.
Police and Highways Authority
We co-ordinate activity on this, and as clubs need to work together to ensure we maintain as many events as possible in the local area.
